Mechanism & Research Context

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide ghrelin-receptor (GHS-R1a) agonist. Its defining property in the published pharmacology is selectivity: in comparative animal studies it stimulated growth-hormone release without the accompanying rises in ACTH, cortisol or prolactin that less selective ghrelin mimetics produced. That selectivity is the reason ipamorelin remains a standard reference compound in GH-axis research decades after it was first characterised.

The original characterisation by Raun and colleagues in the European Journal of Endocrinology (1998) is the usual citation for the selectivity profile, and it is still the study most laboratory protocols reference when choosing a GHS-R1a agonist that does not confound results through the corticotroph axis.

In vitro, ipamorelin is used for GHS-R1a binding and calcium-mobilisation assays, receptor-selectivity comparisons, and pituitary cell-based release studies. It is commonly run alongside GHRH-receptor compounds such as CJC-1295 No DAC to compare the two independent receptor pathways within one experimental system.

The 10 mg vial is the standard working size for assay and cell-culture protocols, supplied with the batch number printed on the corresponding COA.

How It Compares to Related Peptides

Ipamorelin is a GHS-R1a agonist, so its mechanism is distinct from GHRH-receptor analogs like CJC-1295 No DAC. Where a protocol needs both pathways, the two are used together; where selectivity for the ghrelin receptor without corticotroph involvement is the research question, ipamorelin is the compound of choice.

Reconstitution, Stability & Handling

Reconstitute in bacteriostatic water or the diluent specified by your protocol, adding it slowly against the vial wall and swirling gently. Do not vortex. Keep reconstituted solutions refrigerated and use within your protocol window; lyophilized vials stay at −20 °C, protected from light.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy ipamorelin in Canada?

From Healthy Peps — shipped from within Canada with tracking, batch documentation and a downloadable COA.

What makes ipamorelin different from other ghrelin mimetics?

Published comparative studies describe selective GH-receptor activation without the ACTH, cortisol and prolactin increases seen with less selective compounds.

Is a batch-specific COA included?

Check the Lab Results page for a published report matching the compound, package size and current lot. If no report is linked, contact info@healthypeps.co before ordering. A report for another lot is not evidence for your material.

Is ipamorelin for human consumption?

No. It is supplied for laboratory research only and is not intended for human or veterinary use.

How large is the vial?

10 mg of lyophilized peptide per vial, which is the standard working quantity for in vitro protocols.
